What is Emotional Intelligence?

Good question! Emotional Intelligence or, EQ is a measure of an individual's overall ability to facilitate themselves into states of clarity, personal responsibility and positive action. It is also reflects how effectively an individual may function in various social environments.

Why do we need to build Emotional Intelligence

Because high EQ correlates more closely than high IQ to material and spiritual success in life.

What are some of the benefits of high EQ?

For children:
They are able to communicate their feelings with adults
They can play effectively with other children
They can solve problems and seek help when necessary
They are more self reliant
They have higher self-esteem and self-confidence
They can make choices separate from a peer group
Lower drug abuse, criminal behavior, and failure in school
They grow up to be more happy, successful, well adjusted adults

For adults:
Able to move through depression into action
Can change state - from fear to faith - from anger to forgiveness at will
Fewer stress related health problems
They can play effectively with other adults
They are more effective in high pressure work environments
They have much higher self-esteem and self-confidence
They can reason independent of patterns of resistance
They can learn rapidly and adapt to change more quickly
They can access higher states of creativity
