The Heart:
Imagination:
The movers and shakers of tomorrow are the children of today. Children possess the ability to quickly learn to access their hearts and they possess a tremendous enthusiasm for using their imaginations. Not only can we guide children to use their imaginations to play and have fun, we can just as easily guide them to use their imaginations to create their hearts’ deepest desires.
Paradigm: an example: a model. Paradigm Shift: occurs when an individual creates a new model for a given idea. An example : the discovery that the earth is round created a paradigm shift. There was created a new model for the shape of the earth and the nature of gravity, and the universe.
THE BOOK: Read the book out loud. Be creative with your voice. Be a coach. Have fun. Have plenty of drawing materials and paper ready for exercises. Take your time this book can be presented in segments; 2-3 days or all in one day. Time is based upon each individual. During the exercises ask that the children share with each other only after each exercise is fully complete and only if they choose to share. This book is designed to access each child’s individual heart-mind. therefore, by making the exercises individual projects, they are free from intellectual, commercial, and societal influences when discovering choices that are most important in their own personal lives now.
Exercise #1: Clears the way for the heart to express its deepest desires! We give children ten spaces to draw and write in. The exercise is most effective when done quickly and when children have a complete idea (either a drawing or writing or both) in all 10 of the spaces provided. Be sure and emphasize the difference between a heart wish and a Christmas/ birthday/stomach wish. Do you know the difference? A heart wish is a desire that once realized, brings only outcomes that are win/win for all individuals and brings lasting success and satisfaction through HAPPINESS + LOVE + JOY! A heart wish is also very specific; who, where, when and what does it involve? It is real, first person and personal, and can be imagined here and now. An example: Bobby wishes from his heart to have a baseball glove. When he looks deeper into his wish, he finds that the baseball glove is for playing and spending time with his dad. His heart wish is to play and spend time with his dad. ( Remember that all heart wishes are free from "should's, musts, have to’s, got to’s, ought to’s and thou shalts". They are spontaneous and sometimes are the opposite of what we think we SHOULD do.)
Exercise #2: Now we are down to 4 heart spaces and the children have learned a TRICK: The Heart Phone! If they choose they can use their new trick to complete this exercise. Coach them in using their heart phones and get them talking with their hearts. The 4 heart spaces are the 4 most important wishes from exercise#1. If the child has realized a more important heart wish after completing exercise #1 by all means inform them that it can be used in this exercise. Give them plenty of time to do the exercises. Emphasize being creative with colors, pictures and descriptions. Once again, this is an individual project where all creative input comes exclusively from the child (another possible "Paradigm Shift"). Remember also, they can use their heart phones over and over. Note: If the children do choose to pick up the Heart Phone and talk to their hearts, encourage them to do so silently, even with closed eyes.
Exercise #3: We have arrived at the most important heart wish in the moment! Give the children lots of time and encouragement to draw and write descriptively and spontaneously. These pages are for fun and self-discovery relating only to their single most important heart wish. Remind the children to use their Heart Phone trick. Because some children may have tapped into their true, deep heart desires, what they have discovered at this point may be very sensitive, in fact this is one of the goals! A newly discovered heart desire is like a new born baby and a great deal of safety is required when sharing a newly born heart desire. There is no reason a child must share what they have created or discovered in exercise #3.
Exercise #4: The outcome exercise! In this exercise the goal is to take the Heart Wish from exercise #3 and to apply an imagination technique called "Outcome Imagination".
Outcome Imagination: To imagine from the outcome of a goal or wish as if the goal or wish has already become manifest Now. In outcome imagination you place yourself in a ‘imaginal’ state that fully embodies your wish already fulfilled. Once this state is achieved there is a body chemistry change that occurs and an individual will take a deep breath and relax. It is in this relaxed state that creativity is heightened. The subconscious mind to begins create the scene which is held in an individual’s conscious attention. Outcome imagination is most effective when you use all of your senses and when you elaborate in great detail about how life is different now that your wish is already fulfilled. Note these differences because they are anchors to the new reality which is becoming manifest. " Imagination is greater than knowledge"-Albert Einstein- One more important point when using imagination to create a goal: do not worry about HOW to achieve the goal, simply leap right past all reasoning and logic straight into the outcome, and remain in the outcome until it becomes tangible and real in your imagination. In exercise #4 be sure to explain to children the difference in imaging about their heart wish and imaging FROM their heart wish already fulfilled. In this exercise they are imagining their wish has already been fulfilled, fully and completely. Let them know they can repeat this exercise as many times as they wish. The more vivid and real they make it for themselves the quicker manifestation occurs. Talk the children through it. Ask them to close their eyes, relax and begin to imagine that the scene they have described is already happened. Have them write and draw what they experience in the outcome state. Ask them questions that activate their imagination. "What do you see?" "Who are you with?" "What do you smell?" Yippii! You have reached the end of the beginning. The final pages just remind the children that their heart is also a powerful tool for solving any emotional situation. The heart has the answers to our deepest questions. In fact, when children begin to pick up their "Heart Phones" and ask their hearts for answers, they will soon become their own pillars of strength and courage. Remember to make this book fun and easy, because it is. Exploring our heart is fun, especially when we are guided and encouraged by the loving coaches that we all are.
