Our Commitment to Community and Charitable Interests

James Martin Associates, Inc. celebrated it’s 30th year of “Enriching Lives Through Beautiful Landscapes”. As one of the ways to celebrate this milestone, the company decided to continue it’s company’s involvement with the Lake County American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, an overnight event held at Mundelein High School.

"I was touched by the impact of cancer just a few short years ago when I lost my mother to a very aggressive brain cancer. Almost everyone I know has also felt its indiscriminate impact on the lives of loved ones. The funds we raise help bring the American Cancer Society one step closer to eliminating cancer from our lives” said Jim Martin, President, James Martin Associates, Inc.

Several employees approached Jim Martin back in 2005 saying they both had close personal experiences with cancer and thought many of the other employees might have similar experiences and would also be interested in participating in Relay For Life. After a little checking, it was decided that this effort would be one of the company’s major focuses for charitable fund raising in 2005. Now three years later, the company is in it’s third year as a corporate sponsor and has raised almost $23,000 with sponsorship and generous support of clients, vendor partners, family and friends.

James Martin Associates is very appreciative of all of the support in the company’s commitment to fighting cancer and extends a very heartfelt “Thank You” to all of those who have donated time, money, thoughts & prayers to this effort or to an event in their own community.

Chicagoland Flower And Garden Show

James Martin Associates partnered with The Arthritis Foundation, Greater Chicago Chapter, to create the “Enabling Garden” at the 2007 Chicagoland Flower and Garden Show held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont.

The “Enabling Garden” displayed accessible gardening solutions such as raised beds and vertical gardens along with specially designed ergonomic tools to deliver the message that gardens are places that people of all abilities can experience and treasure. This is the sixth time in eight years that James Martin Associates and The Arthritis Foundation have collaborated on a garden at the show for which they have received four Governor’s Awards in previous years, and in 2006 was honored with a Gold Award, Best in Show, and the Kenton Morris Trophy for the educational design of the “Enabling Garden”. This was the first time throughout the shows’ history that one garden unanimously received a perfect score from the judges for all three awards. For additional information on the show please visit www.arthritis.org or www.chicagoflower.com.

Charitable Sponsorship with Potting Parties

At James Martin Associates, it is part of our mission to respect and support the charitable interests of our employees, clients and community. Since 1977, we've supported many different organizations through various donations, as well as giving back to the community through the magic of gardening.

A new event was held this year that was inspired by James Martin Associate’s tradition of charitable “Potting Parties”. The Chicagoland Flower & Garden Show hosted similar potting parties twice daily at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm daily with all of the proceeds from the $20 donation benefiting a specific charity or organization such as: The Arthritis Foundation, The American Cancer Society/Relay For Life, AIDS Foundation of Chicago, PAWS Chicago, Prevent Child Abuse America and more. The potting parties were a huge success and were literally the hit of the show.

The American Cancer Society reported that they raised $1,200.00 for Relay For Life and took the opportunity to let attendees know about the Relays in the surrounding communities. All total the charities and organizations raised nearly $10,000.00 with proceeds from the potting parties.

James Martin Associates is very proud to have supported the charitable interests of our employees, clients and community since 1977. Over the years we've shown our support through various donations, but the donation of a “Potting Party” has been the most well received.
